Just like that ? “Stop” ? Hmmm… Seems (looks and sounds) fishy. Does Vestine have some kind of device that allows her to remotely control androids ?
Anyway, she will have a lot of explaining to do if she doesn’t want to get her pretty head rolling on the floor. We’re talking about a despicable individual, a nazi, ready to start plotting to overthrow the president anytime. She has to be stopped, preferably killed !
ah but which President? (there are three of them [can’t remember which page]).
A true BarackRoomLawyeryaddayadda would point out that Secretary of Defense is secretary to the President so theoretically there should be three Secretaries of Defense. Unless of course Vestine terminated the other two with extreme prejudice.
Somehow I doubt that the androids in this story have as much freedom as implied by Asimov’s laws, because I can’t imagine Vestine being careless enough to let an android capable of harming her get that close.
I’ll say one thing for Lisa though, she has my vote for android of the year.
Ah but is Lisa today the same Lisa that Vestine created for the massacre? We have seen her grow as a person during the road trip [“emergent behavior” is the technical term]. She is no longer the automaton we saw in the first ten pages. The sprites that Steven has drawn represent the internal monologue that no non-sentient being should be having. Has the Pinocchio moment arrived? “(I’m not a puppet, I’m a real boy!)
Lucky for Steven that he has his fan club here to tell him what to write next! 😀

Time for Asimov’s Second Law:
A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
(the First Law says A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.)
Does Lisa have the BarrackRoomLawyer™®© OptionalUpgradeModule℠ installed?
