Sentimentalism. That’s why cruel people like Vestine keep getting away with their bullshit. Because they now that somehow, “heroes” and “good guys” get to be the “good guys” for a reason. They DO get to have their happy ending, which is something that “normal” people won’t have. It’s quite the exclusive privilege that good guys have.
People like Vestine know that. They know that all those hardships, on the long run, make for a situation where the good duys “earned a rest”. And it’s true. Lisa DID earn that rest. Empathyzing with the good goys is what makes the villain so despicable…and yet they are right most of the time, especially because they’re 90% responsible of it.
Just like Vestine says. As things are right now for Lisa, nobody will blame her for letting go. Because killing others it what VILLAINS do. Not heroes.
So there is definitely a trap here. One way is where Lisa lets go and she lets Vestine to probably murderfrick something else another day, and the other way is where Lisa kills Vestine…. and becomes the villain. In the grand scheme of things, Lisa still has much to learn, while Vestine’s journey is over.
One has to hope that Vestine doesn’t realize that the weapon she is holding is loaded with android killing armour piercing ammunition, because then she becomes an existential threat to Lisa.
That might, somehow slightly justify Lisa killing Vestine, but then androids are not supposed to hurt humans at all anyhow so probably not.
Lisa really needs one of the other squaddies to take Vestine down.
Vestine being Vestine (aka a sociopathical, hysterical maniac who will swoop as low as murdering children, in my opinion – she DID try to pull a nuke on UN leaders, after all), there is simply no way that she didn’t notice the fact that the soldier (Konrad) switched his ammo (she was there when he did, IIRC).
But even in the case she doesn’t know…. Problem is that as soon as she pulls the trigger while aiming at Lisa, Konrad will get an opening to disarm her, or even break a few bones in Vestine’s body in order to neutralize her. And if she shoots to kill Konrad, she’ll become the murderer whom Lisa wants everyone to see. So basically digging her own grave, at this point (which is something she already did earlier, but you see my point).
So as counter-intuitive as it may be, Vestine’s best option right now is to avoid shooting her gun if she wants to make it out of here alive and well.
I think it has something to do with the RECENT POSTS at the top right, where they are absent without leave.
From the current page, we can can certainly get to 423 and 422 using the Prev controls.
Yes that was what was going on!!! Shortly after commenting I also figured out to simply use the left/right page controls. Silly me!! Next time I’ll spend more time examining the page controls to not miss something so obvious before commenting x3
What exactly does she think she has left to bargain? There’s no escape for her.

Heya I’m so happy to see a page! But, I’m unfortunately not seeing the pages 422 or 423 on the site, they don’t seem to be posted? Love the story btw!
Oh, that’s strange, how about these links, does it work for you?
