Clever… What could possibly go wrong?
Apart from the facial recognition system spotting a mismatch between the ID and the person using it. Well, Lisa might be able to fake it, but Elvis? Unless the masks can be upgraded and reprogrammed _very _ soon so as to do a convincing enough match for the ID owner (like using someones photo to unlock their phone)?

Cue end of episode theme music…! Tune in next week (pretty please) when all will be revealed?

I’ve taken the train from Shanghai to Hangzhou a few times, but not to Harbin. Why would anyone go there?

my thinking is, in the future there’s a train line stretching across Russia to Alaska, that’s the way they’re going anyway

I looked at a 2020 maps and decided, ah, Harbin to Vladivostok to Osaka to Frisco, where the wise old bioengineer from Blade Runner 1.0 will explain everything. But OBVIOUSLY they will use the Bering Bridge, what was I even thinking , route planning with a 50 year old map?? Do’oh!

But security on the Bering Bridge will be extreme and a future US INS even more paranoid and xenophobic than in 2020 if that is possible. (your vision may differ?).

So if this plan falls apart, Plan B might be to stow away on an autonomous container ship and take a slow boat from/I> China?

Here are some information. I’m not judging, maybe these are just the info Lisa and Elvis don’t know.

The real ticketing mechines in China don’t use the ID’s graphic feature, but the electronic one. It works just like those NFC credit cards — you put your ID on a platform on the mechine and the mechine read information from the card, no camera included. So unless Lisa have a NFC device — or something similar — built in her palm AND heck the encryption algorithm, it won’t work.

Further more, there is a rule of booking railway tickets now in China — you cannot book two tickets that obviously contradict with each othe, like ones share same time period, with the same IDr (this rule is to forbid ticket reselling). So it may take them several tries to success, which atracks attention. Of course, this rule may not exist in the alternative future reality, but it’s REALY reasonable to exist.

Besides, It’s impossible to enter Shanghai Station with full mask and not causing trouble. There are always police there.

I don’t realy think it’s a good idea for Lisa and Elvis to take train. It’s more reasonable to stay on bike and avoid highways. It takes more time, true, but safer.

Thanks, your information is helpful, maybe I should re-write this segment. But then they won’t meet Mittens, and have a planned dream sequence. Probably wouldn’t hurt the overall story much I guess

Maybe it’s good that the machine doesn’t scan the ID’s graphic. Because, if it read her palm, it would know her future! ;D
