Yes, this is even better than the first draft – which was pretty good too. Well done for improving it.

I had a problem thought. Some poor kid was trying out the drone he got for his birthday … and a nasty girl smashed his lovely present. Cue Daddy and four brothers approaching with baseball bats …

No. Not seriously. Too much of a coincidence.

Her IFF system (another little upgrade that she happens to have) identified it as an NSA drone. (Maybe Steven added that after you commented?)

no the little NSA thing was there when I first posted the page, it’s not super important but it does help to explain stuff without me interrupting the flow to explicitly spell stuff out, which I may have a tendency to do and I’m trying to not do 🙂

One small issue. Is her targeting system scoping the distance of the NSA drone at 64 meters and its speed at 4 *Miles Per Hour*? If her system uses metric, 4 mph is 6.437 kilometers per hour.

it’s true you’re right, but I didn’t want to write 64 yards, I don’t know it just feels like that would sound like she’s doing sports… 🙂
the reason I used mph was because she was made in America… but maybe I could write km/h instead as I understand American military does use that?

Vestine always buys all the cool upgrades when she buys something, it’s a compulsion of hers
It’s like forking out for full armor protection on your Chevy Suburban, even if you never use it 🙂

Or, possibly, the manufacturer also builds military robots; those functions are already part of the “brain”. No need to reinvent the wheel if you already have a useable part.

“The Windup Girl” by Paolo Bachigalupi has a sex toy with a combat grade skeleton.
